Posterngate Surgery is a research ready practice. We are part of the SHIELD research cluster with 5 other local practices and take part in research studies approved by the Yorkshire and Humber clinical research network.

Dr Michelle Czajkowski is our research lead. Our team are research nurses Dianne Butterworth, Chrissie Norris and Emma Pierre, GP Dr Christine Johnston and Jade Muscroft.

Information on research studies can be found on our research notice board. We will generally approach patients via post if they are suitable for a particular study. Taking part is completely voluntary and it will NOT affect your care in any way if you do not wish to take part in research. However, many patients find it an interesting and rewarding thing to do.

Current studies include:

IBEAT: A large EU-collaboration over 4 years to develop better diagnostics for early detection of Diabetic kidney Disease. We have just completed the first year follow up of our participants.

CANAssess: We are in the recruiting phase of this study which looks at identifying and managing the issues faced by individuals living with a diagnosis of cancer.

REDUCE: Aims to identify feasible, safe and effective ways of helping patients on long term antidepressants to taper and stop treatment when appropriate.
